In the heart of North Carolina, a dream took shape in early 2025. It was the culmination of over two decades of dedication, compassion, and an unwavering love for animals. Melissa Michaud, a seasoned professional with more than 20 years of experience in both the medical and animal care industries, decided it was time to channel her lifelong passion into something deeply personal — and so, Paws of Serenity NC, LLC was born.
Melissa’s journey wasn’t just about starting a business. It was about answering a call.
From a young age, Melissa felt a strong connection to animals. Her natural empathy and attention to detail led her into both the healthcare field and professional pet care, where she honed her skills caring for others — both human and furry. Through years of working in veterinary clinics, animal shelters, and hospitals, she developed an exceptional understanding of animal behavior, wellness, and emotional needs. Colleagues and clients alike often remarked that Melissa had a calming presence — a true “serenity” that animals seemed to sense.
That serenity became the soul of her new business.

My background is in strategic leadership, operations, and customer experience, and I’m passionate about building systems and processes that create a dependable, high-quality experience for both our clients and our team. Laura (Beth) Manning
Hi, I’m Beth — a stay-at-home mom to two wonderful kids and three furry family members. I grew up on a farm and have loved animals my entire life, often rescuing and caring for animals I found along the way. Although I originally planned to become a veterinarian, I built a rewarding 17-year career in nursing, earning multiple excellence awards and recognitions. After becoming a mom, I stepped away from bedside nursing and began fostering and rescuing dogs, at one point caring for eight rescues at once. Today, my family includes Sophie, Mabel, and Huck — all rescue dogs who are truly part of the family. I treat every pet with kindness, patience, and love, and I look forward to caring for your furry family members like they are my own.

I’m currently attending college pursuing a degree in Information Technology while also doing something else I love — spending time with animals, especially cats. Hi everyone! My name is Isabella (Bella) Rivera and I am new to the Fuquay-Varina area. My family moved here in November and since I attend college in northern Virginia, this summer is my first experience with the area! I love all animals and am excited to give my love to every single one of yours!
